Douro winemaker also known as “iron lady”, D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira (Ferreirinha) would celebrate her 200 year anniversary in 2011. Pauliana Valente Pimentel´s work is a tribute to all the women connected to vineyards in Douro region. An actual picture of people that have always lived in the village, rural workers, enologist, the farm owners. The local women transformed winemaking into art.
More than 20 women were photographed on their homes and vineyards from various parts of the Douro region – Peso da Régua, Canelas, Galafura, Cambres (Lamego), S. Eufémia, Aldeias (Armamar), Folgosa, Vale Mendiz, Pinhão, Sabrosa, Ferrão, Tabuaço e Vila Real.
